Recently, Sun Hongwei's team published their research paper titled "Selective electrosynthesis of chlorine disinfectants from seawater" in the esteemed journal Nature Sustainability (DOI: 10.1038/s41893-023-01265-8).
The team developed a Fe-doped Ti4O7 electrode (Fe-Ti4O7) using mechanochemical methods. The introduction of Fe enhances the electrophilicity of lattice oxygen active sites on the Ti4O7 surface, thus significantly improving the selective activation of low-concentration chloride ions present in natural seawater while effectively suppressing the deposition of alkaline earth metal ions on the electrode surface.
This pioneering research offers a green, low-carbon, and sustainable solution for the synthesis of active chlorine.
Currently, the team is actively advancing the industrial preparation and application technology development of related electrode materials.
