1. Introduction of the Program

Information technology has revolutionary impacts on educational development. The discipline of Educational Technology is an interdisciplinary application-oriented field that uses information technology to promote educational reform. It is also one of the fastest growing field in educational theory and practice. The Educational Technology program of SEIT is a top-ranked program in China with a distinguished faculty team and excellent teaching environment. The program aims to promote the process of deep integration of technology and education: it is based on the systematic science and methodologies and supported by the specialized knowledge of education, psychology, information science and technologies; it focuses on the practical problems in both formal and informal educational contexts, and engages students in professional practice and research of design, development, implementation, management and evaluation of educational interventions, with the purpose of enhancing learning and improving performance.

2. Program Goal

The program of Educational Technology aims to cultivate high-quality, inter-disciplinary professionals who master the basic theories, technologies and methods in the field of educational technology, possess the skills to design, develop, implement, manage and evaluate digital teaching and learning environments and resources.

3. Basic Requirement

Students who graduate from this program should acquire the knowledge and skills of the following:

1.Comprehensively acquire the basic knowledge relevant to the program major such as education, psychology, information science and technology.

2.Systematically acquire the professional knowledge including theories, methods and skills related to the professional field of educational technology.

3.Understand major-related strategies, policies, laws & regulations, standards, contemporary progress and developing trends.

4.Acquire the capabilities to design, development, implement, manage and evaluate digital teaching and learning environments.

5.Acquire the capabilities to design, development, implement, manage and evaluate digital teaching and learning processes.

6.Acquire the capabilities to employ information technology to creatively solve practical educational problems in informationalized context.

4. Core Courses

Instructional design, instructional media and technology, learnig sciences, microcomputer principles, C language, database structure and application, multimedia technology, computing networks, educational research methodology, and information technologies integrated in course design.
