1.Introduction to Educational Technology Major

Educational Technology major is a comprehensive and applicable discipline with an intensive combination of education theory, learning theory, teaching practice and other multi-media technologies. As a newly-merged marginal discipline, Educational Technology enriches the teaching content with the faculties of visual and auditory senses which can make people receive abundant knowledge within limited time range, offering methodological and pedagogical in a constructive way. The Educational Technology major prepares students to work in the design, development, application, management and assessment of educational media and teaching system. With a 100% of employment rate among graduates, some started their careers in junior high schools to undertake the tasks of the design and development of teaching and education resources. Others have been working in the education media companies or education equipment production companies.

2.Academic Objectives

This major is designed to prepare students to become senior practical professionals with moral, intellectual, social, scientific, creative and research qualities. The students should grasp the basic knowledge and skills of fundamental theories of educational technology, research methods and essential techniques so as to be fully engaged in education software design and development, teaching resources design, campus network framing and managing in schools, enterprises and other education-related companies.

3.Fundamental Requirements

Students in this major are supposed to have a favorable ideological and moral standard with confident and tolerant attitude, teamwork spirit, the ability to make judgment and a certain degree of aesthetic judgment. Moreover, students should be equipped with healthy personalities, creative spirits, lifelong study capabilities, good information literacy, scientific thinking methods, habits as well as exploring spirit, excellent eloquence and communication abilities, proficient use of a foreign language. Additionally, it is a necessity for them to get knowledge in modern education theories and teaching methods, to have the ability to design, to develop and to manage modern educational technology environment and platform, educational software, and even teaching resources and educational equipment.

Requirements for knowledge and abilities:

①Students should systematically master the fundamental theories, knowledge and skills prescribed in Educational Technology, fully understand the latest developments in this major and in other relevant areas and acquire research methods in Educational Technology in order to be able to do research work on related foundational and applied theories.

②Students should master modern education theories, fundamental theories on teaching system design, and advanced methods in education and teaching. They should have good organizing abilities in education and teaching, and should be capable of doing teaching system design, teaching implementation and appraisal work in all levels of schools and different types of enterprise training institutions.

③Students should master the fundamental theories on modern information technology and its application. They should have abilities in designing and managing the environment of educational information technology, so that they can work on the design, development, application and management of educational information network, multimedia teaching system, and educational equipment system that belong to the related institutions of university and society.

④Students should master the basic theory and methods of the teaching media design, cultivating the abilities of designing and making multimedia teaching resource.

⑤Students should master the basic theory and methods of educational film transmission, cultivating the abilities of directing, producing and making educational TV programs.

1. Students must complete 25 points of credit of optional general education courses in three platforms which inlucdes 19 points of essential courses and 6 points of optional courses. It is recommended that students should keep a balance between liberal arts and science and also pay proper attention to arts and PE while selecting courses. It is not allowed to take the courses that are the same as or similar to the designed professional courses. The credits that the students get from the subjects they minor in are redeemable as the credits in the optional courses of general education.

2.the freshman participates in the test of computer level. If he can pass the test, he will get the credit directly. If not, he has to take the course of computer foundamental.

十、Further Information

10.1 In the first and the second terms, the students of this major have the same basic subjects as those of educational technology (Non-Pedagogic) major.

10.2 Research areas of this major include: Information Technology Education, Educational Resources Design and Development, Teaching Design

10.3 Students are advised to get general education credits on the major platforms of psychology and Pedagogics. Students should choose at least one optional course about research methodology.

10.4 The professional courses are divided into two: Psychological Theory with 28 credits, and Theory and Application of Technology with 32 credits. This major opens Double-Degree courses with 35 credits. Students of other majors can obtain the second degree on condition that they get at least 31 credits from the optional courses.

10.5 Two teaching probations and one teaching practice are required.

10.6 Students must get the required credits in the designed years, with 98 course credits and 3 credits in Community Education Platform, and they must finish all the parts of practice and experiments. Their scores of foreign language must meet CCNU’s requirements. Students are allowed to graduate when they pass the thesis defense. Qualified students who meet the degree -granting conditions will be granted the degree of Bachelor of Science.
