There are four departments in the School of Computer, including the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Department of Software Engineering, the Department of Internet of Things Engineering and the Department of Information Security.Correspondingly, the four majors are designed to cultivatehigh-quality and innovative professionals who can adapt the needs of the socialist modernization and have an all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetic. Students in the school are well educated to have great scientific and cultural literacy, and to have solid understanding of the fundamentals and working knowledges.

Each ofthe fourmajors has their own distinguishing features. The Department of Computer Science and Technology requires studentsto master the fundamental theories and practice skills of computer hardware and software. Students in the department are expected to be good at computer application development and technical innovation, and have strong capabilities to work in computer applications, scientific research, development and management of both computer hardware and software. The Department of Software Engineering is designed to train students to become professionals who systematically master the fundamental theories and practice skills of computer software, hardware and computer network. The program provides students with theory and practice trainings which helps students to develop innovation and teamwork consciousness, and to have solid knowledge and skills in software requirement analysis, software management, modeling, software design, software testing, software development and maintenance.The Department of Internet of Things Engineering is a new major in this schoolwhich is designed to cultivate students to master the basic theories and application methods of Internet of Things. Students in this program are well educated to haveprofessional knowledge related to Internet-of-things communications, network, sensing and information processing,and have the ability in the design, research, maintenance and management of Internet-of-things engineering.The Department of Information Security provides a thorough groundingin the theoretical principles and knowledge of information retrieval, transferring, processing and application. Itremains committed to systematic education for high-level researchers and developers, who have particular interests in the area of computer, communication, and information security. Students with good command of English and personality of innovation can be prepared for any professional role they might choose—research, design, integration, practice in information technology industries, research institutes, universities, security departments and other community groups, and pursue their advanced degrees in information security, computer science and technology, and other related fields and cross subjects

Basic Requirement

The Department of Computer Science and Technology & The Department of Software Engineering

Graduates are expected to have a broad and solid understanding of the knowledge and technology in the field, master scientific research methodology, be familiar with computer applications, and strong practice skills. The specific requirements for graduates are as follows:

1.Mastering the knowledge and technology of computer systems organization and architecture.

2.Systematically understand the theories of computer software and having the strong ability to work on software design and development.

3.Having the management and development skills for working in various industries related to computer science.

4. Understanding the development and trends of computer science and technology and having a strong self-learning ability of new theories and new technologies.

5.Having capability of engaging in scientific research in computer science or related fields.

6.Having a good psychological diathesis and professional ethics, and having good teamwork consciousness.

The Department of Internet of Things Engineering

Graduates of this major are expected to have the following knowledge and skills:

1. Having the good moral cultivation, the strong sense of social responsibility, theconfidencetolerant attitude, the spirit of cooperationand the ability of right judgment. 2. Havinga solid understanding of the knowledge and technology innatural science and computer science, systematically masteringthe basic theories and practice skillsof Internet of things, understanding the development trend and new progress of Internet of things engineering as well ashaving strongly comprehensive application and research ability.

3. Being able to master the practical application of the Internet of things system andbeing familiar with the software and hardware configuration of Internet of things.

4.Having excellent skills in application development, and have the capabilities of engaging in system design, development and management of Internet of Things.

5.Having innovative spirit and lifelong learning skills, basic capabilities of information collection, analysis, processing and application development, scientific methodology and spirit to seek truth.

6. Having good expression andhaving the ability to communicate with a foreignlanguage fluently.

7. Developing good exercise habits, and having healthy body and good psychological diathesis, and mastering basic fitness skills.

The Department of Information Security

Based on math and science, built on information science, directed towards information security, emphasizing on creativity, systems oriented, keeping applications in mind, this program cultivates talents in computer security, especially in protecting information security, applying computer security technologies, design, evaluation, and development of security systems, improving the security of systems, and protecting against attacks.

Students are expected to gain:

1.Sound grounding in both mathematics and physics;

2.Principles of information science, electronics and computer science;

3.Research and problem solving skills in the area of information security;

4.Skills to understand the development and trend in the discipline;

5.Skills to use professional English language;

6.Ability in document searching, data querying and thesis writing;

7.Attainment in humanities and art, cooperative and organizational skills; and

8.Sense of creation and innovation.

Specifications

1.The core courses of these four programs in the first and second year are the same.

2. 130 credits are required for the degree including 32 credits (24.62%) for the compulsory courses of the General Education, 8 credits (6.15%) from the core courses of the General Education, 5 credits (3.85%) from the elective courses of the General Education, 60 credits (46.15%) for the compulsory courses of the Major Courses and 25 credits (19.23%) from the elective courses of Personal Development.

3. Students who meet the following requirements in the specified duration of the program are eligible to graduate:1)Earned 130 credits from all courses in the program and 20 credits in Practical Education; 2) Completed all practical teaching activities; 3) meeting the requirements of the CCNU for the examination of a foreign language; 4) meeting the requirements of physical tests; 5) passing the defense. Students who have fulfilled all the degree requirements of CCNU will be awarded the Bachelor of Engineering degree.

4. Earning creditsfrom different courses

1)The level-based teachingis applied in theEnglish Courses.For more details, please refer to“Implementation scheme for College English Graded Teaching of CCNU”.

2)Students need to participate in the University’s sport clubs to obtain credits from the courses of Physical Education. For more details, please referto “Implementation Plan for the Reform of CCNU’s University Sports Modules”.

3) Freshman seminars have different topics.For more details, please referto “Implementation plan of Freshman seminar”.

4) Students are required to earn 8 creditsfrom the core courses of General Education. The selected courses should cover at least 3 of 4 categories: Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Philosophy and Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Education and Psychology. Moreover, the selected courses are not allowed to be the same or similar as the courses in their own programs.

5)To earn 5 elective credits of the General Education, students could select from the Elective Courses of the General Education or from Major Courses of other majors. Quality Development Courses contain course of Situation and Policy, employment instructions, Mental Health Education, etc.

6)Personal Development Courses provide students three types of trainings: Academic Development, Interdisciplinary Development and Innovation & entrepreneurship Development. For students who go through the training of Academic Development, they should choose courses from the elective course of their own major. For students who go through the training of Interdisciplinary Development, they could register any courses they need of the University. For students who select the training of Innovation & entrepreneurship Development, they should choose courses about innovation and entrepreneurship. For all types of trainings, students are required to earn at least 25 credits.

5.Students who register the minor are required to selectthe double degree courses from their programs.Theywill obtaina minor certificate when they earn 28 credits and a Minor bachelor certificateafter they earn 42 credits.

6. Main arrangements of the three semesters

Courses:

1)Core courses of General Education.

2)Elective courses of General Education from the University or based on internet resources.

3)International general education courses or lectures given by excellent domestic or foreign professors.

4)Freshman seminars.

5)Internal and externalmajor or minor courses and double degree courses

6)Intensive language courses.

Practice teaching or activities:

1)Practice teaching activities, such asintegrated design experiments, field practice and trainee practice, etc.

2)College students research projects training.

3)Professional skills training (include Normal students)

4)College students practice competition.

5)Domestic and overseasstudy tour for educational activities.

6)Other social practices which can be arranged in third semester such as innovation &entrepreneurship activities.
