The first meeting of the high-Level China-Germany People-to-people Exchange Dialogue Mechanism was held in Beijing on May 24th. Wang Enke, the Vice President of CCNU, was invited to attend the meeting and the event of “45 Years of China-Germany Education Ties” as a representative of the returned overseas students studied in Germany.

It’s reported that the current mechanism mainly covers the fields of education, culture, media, sports and youth. The meeting was held on the theme of “Cultural Exchange, Cooperation and Win-Win”. Liu Yandong, Chinese Vice-Premier and Sigmar Gabriel, German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel co-chaired the meeting, during which they signed the Joint Declaration on establishing the High-Level People-to-People Dialogue mechanism.

On the same day, the event of “Mutual Learning, Cultural Blending---45 Years of China-Germany Education Ties” was held in Beijing. It is an important supporting event for the meeting. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations 45 years ago, there have been widening cultural communication and exchanges, expanding cooperation channels and enriching cooperation contents, which make the effectiveness of cooperation become increasingly prominent. In addition, exchanges between overseas students of the two countries continue to heat up. More than 130,000 Chinese have studied in Germany in the past 45 years, while nearly 80,000 Germans have studied in China. The two countries have made a consensus that they will enlarge the scale of overseas students and deepen the communication of vocational education in future. Besides, in order to further promote mutual personnel exchanges and nurture talent, China Scholarship Council will provide scholarships to 6,000 Chinese students studying in Germany in the following three years. And the Chinese Government Scholarship program will offer 1,000 places to young Germans studying in China.
