A Delegation from CCNU Led by Vice President Xia Lixin Visits Taiwan Sister Schools

From November 2ndto 7th, CCNU Vice President Xia Lixin, together with relevant principals from Teaching Administration and Office of Hongkong, Macao&Taiwan Affairs, visited sister schools in Taiwan including National Taiwan Normal University and National Kaohsiung Normal University.

The delegation first paid a visit to National Taiwan Normal University and exchanged ideas with NTNU Vice President Cheng-Chih Wu, Director of Office of International Affairs Kuang-Chao Yu and the general secretary An-Pan Lin. Both sides reached an agreement for cooperation in many fields such as promoting collaboration in MOOCs between two universities, establishing distant e-learning programs, offering courses for each other and so on. Then they went to NTNU Extension, School of Continuing Education where they had reached a consensus on trainings for teachers as well as administrative staff, in-depth education cooperation, specialized summer courses for CCNU "Boya Students” etc. with director Wen-Chung Kao, associate director Jyh-Shen Tsay and other colleagues.

In addition, the delegation attended the 50th anniversary of National Kaohsiung Normal University with cross-strait university teachers and students. They took part in a series of celebrations like the photo exhibit, the opening ceremony of the sports meeting and cheerleading competitions. Meanwhile, Prof. Xia delivered a keynote speech at the forum held by NKNU. In his report, he introduced innovations of teacher education reform and the practice of informationization construction that CCNU had made. Moreover, policy developments, curricular reforms, education innovations and global views were also discussed together and received consensus among all people at the meeting.

During the visit, the delegation met separately with school leaders from NKNU, the Education University of Hong Kong, National Taiwan Normal University, Tin Ka Ping Foundation, City University of Macau and National Pingtung University of Education. Additionally, they specifically discussed some items including teachers cultivation, students exchanges, talent returning and research cooperating.

During this period, the delegation visited exchange students of CCNU in Taiwan and held a forum with them. Prof. Xia was pleased to know that exchange students had gained a lot in Taiwan. Meanwhile, he encouraged them to cherish the exchange study opportunities, show a good spirit and successfully come back to CCNU.

The visit was successful. It laid a solid foundation for deepening comprehensive cooperation between CCNU and other sister schools in Taiwan and expanded exchanges and cooperation with universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
