Delegation from Swinburne University of Technology Visits CCNU

On November 21st, a delegation led by Monica Kennedy, vice president of Swinburne University of Technology and Li Qingxin, CEO of Australia Education Management Group (AEMG) visited CCNU. Cai Hongsheng, vice president of CCNU, met with the delegation. Leaders from Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, School of Life Science and the Academic Affairs Office attended the management committee meeting of the Chinese-foreign cooperative education project of biotechnology along with directors of School of Physical Science and Technology, School of Chemistry and School of psychology.


Cai Hongsheng introduced the academic strength, development strategy of “internationalization, informatization, and construction of high-level university” and international development of CCNU. He said that CCNU has been selected as one of the first-class disciplines building university by the Ministry of Education and has been dedicated to developing cooperative partnerships with world-renowned universities. The Chinese-foreign cooperative education project of biotechnology at the undergraduate level co-sponsored by Swinburne University of Technology and CCNU has become a new highlight in international school running mode and talent training innovation. It has passed the assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2015 and smoothly prolonged the enrollment period until 2021. In the meantime, both universities discussed project curriculums re-matching and optimizing, determined to take effective measures together to deal with problems and challenges. With the core of fostering talents, the bilateral cooperation will definitely get deepened and further developed.


Monica Kennedy gave an introduction of the history, advantages of discipline and international strategy of SUT. She pointed out that both universities are century-old and related disciplines rank among the best both home and abroad, which has laid a solid foundation for the in-depth collaborations. She hoped to perfect the curriculums setting and training models of the projects to promote the perspectives of program participants. Meanwhile, she looked forward to practical cooperation with other subjects and promoting all-round exchanges between the two schools.


Directors of School of Physical Science and Technology, School of Chemistry and School of psychology initiated a discussion with the delegation on some short-term exchange programs, staff exchange, joint research programs and joint talent training.


During the visit, the delegation arranged a kick-off meeting with students in the project and a symposia to communicate with teachers from the School of Life Science.


As an Australian elite school with a history of over ten decades, and a world-renowned research university as well, Swinburne University of Technology is the only university in Australia that has been invited to be a member of The European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU).
