Revision:Zhang Yuntong, PreciouxDate:2018/05/04

Youth Day in China is celebrated every forth day in May to commemorate the patriotic May Forth Movement of 1919 and young people’s devotion to China. On May 4th this year, a grand gala evening Paean of Laurel Garden for Youth Day was held at CCNU. Committee of the Communist Youth League of CCNU is in charge of this gala and they want to take this chance to recognize and commend the contributions of young volunteers of CCNU. The gala evening, Paean of Laurel Garden for Youth Day, has been held for 15 years since 2003, when students of CCNU spontaneously organized an evening public welfare party to cheer up students under the dark cloud of SARS. The traditions of public welfare are followed untill now, besides, this activity has been upgraded to a party with the theme of praising voluntary service. Graduate students’ supporting education group was praised in particular.

This year, international students, who represent Yang Lei Feng volunteer group, also had a wonderful performance on stage. They performed singing and dancing performance for the audience called Hand in Hand on the Silk Road. International students acted confidently and actively on stage before a big bright screen on which a video about the Silk Road was playing . Four couples of performers respectively came from Burma, Cameroon, Mali, Benin, Malaysia, Indonesia and China. As the Belt and Road emphasized, creating a community of shared future for mankind is the mission of young people around the world. So the youth today must combine together and work  hand in hand for the future, which is the idea this singing and dancing program aspired to convey . Wang Nannan, a girl from Burma in this group of performers who is also helped in preparing  of the program said, “When I first heard the music, I didn't  even know what it meant but my instructor interpreted it to me and then I got to know that it conveyed the idea of communication between countries. Later, I summoned some international students to join me to organize  a dance. Part of them come from Yang Leifeng volunteer service group, which means our performance is also a representative of the spirit of voluntary service. ”  This put out an excellent performance.
