Spokesperson Of LHCb Collaboration Visits CCNU

From July 13th to July 14th , at the invitation of CCNU, the spokesperson of LHCb collaboration as well as the senior researcher of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics in Folorence, Italy, Giovanni Passaleva, came to CCNU for an academic visit and discuss the collaboration in future LHCb upgrades.

On July 13th, Passaleva delivered an academic report entitled “The current situation and future upgrades of LHCb” in the Institute of Particle Physics of CCNU, arising a heated discussion about a number of latest hot issues in particle physics. He also paid a visit to the silicon-pixel lab, the cleanroom of upgrading Alice detector, and the high-performance Science Computing Center, and enquired about the technical problems with much interest. During the seminar with professor Xie Yuehong, professor Yin Hang, and associate professor Zhang Dongliang, Passaleva had a detailed understanding about the development and future plan of LHCb research group in CCNU, and highly appraised the four-year achievements in terms of team-building and physical researches since CCNU joined the LHCb lab works. He congratulated for Professor Yin Hang’s excellent report in CERN as well.

On July 14th, Passaleva had a seminar with the main members from CCNU and Wuhan University of LHCb in CCNU, focusing on the collaboration between these two universities and LHCb China group to carry out the second phase of upgrading LHCb. Xie Yuehong introduced the LHCb China group’s recent discussion and research in this aspect as well as all institutes’ technical power in developing detector. Passaleva expressed his expectation and gave suggestions on the China group’s significant devotion in second phase of upgrading detector.

LHCb is the particle physics experiment device on the large hadron collider at CERN, focusing on researching the fundamental problems, such as the distinction of antimatter’s nature and the internal structure of hadron. LHCb international cooperative group is comprised of 1263 members from 77 institutes in 17 countries. CCNU joined LHCb at the end of 2013. The group encloses professor Xie Yuehong, professor Yinhang, associate professor Zhang Dongliang, post doctors and postgraduates currently, presiding over the national key research program and the key program of National Natural Science Foundation of China. CCNU’s group also gain a series of achievements in the studies of charge-symmetry breaking and double charmonium properties.
