Colloquium on the Launch of 300 Pieces of Audio Poetry Held in CCNU

December 8th, the colloquium on the launch of 300 Pieces of Audio Poetry was held at the conference room of the School of Foreign Languages in CCNU. More than 30 poets, scholars and experts from CCNU, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Hubei Provincial Writers Association, Zhejiang University as well as other universities, participated in the conference.

The conference began with a speech made by the head of CCNU Press. He said, to publish  books that touch readers, inherit and spread the splendid culture has always been our pursuit. Under the background of media convergence, the publication of 300 Pieces of Audio Poetry is an innovation practice to spread culture which converges Internet and traditional publication, in a way of written poems plus audio and integrate domestic and foreign poetic cultural resources to revitalize poems.

Zhang Zhihao, Vice-president of Hubei Provincial Writers Association, Lu Xun Literature Prize winner, reckoned that this book will provide a better reading experience in a way of written poems plus audio which is the collaborative fruit of publisher,  writers and reading team. Professor Dai Jianye, Zhang Sanxi and Fan Jun from School of Chinese Language and Literature of CCNU were of the opinion that the publication of the books was not only the exploration in transition of publication convergence but also served to promote mass communication which was the social responsibility of a first-class discipline.

Attendees all agreed that as the first audio book in publishing industry of Hubei Province, the 300 Pieces of Audio Poetry was unique in terms of compilation, reading and background music and was also a masterpiece which conveyed the style and taste of poets and editors and the reading team. Meanwhile,in the times of media convergence, such an innovative publishing exploration would contribute to promote the spreading of poems and greatly expand the literary field and boundary of Hubei, and even China.

After the symposium, attendees took part in a poetry reading activitiy. Poet Charles Bernstein, academician of American Academy of Arts and Sciences,   and Tyehimba Jess, winner of Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, read for the audience and performed the beauty of vocal poems.

300 Pieces of Audio Poetry is one of the achievements of the  projects supported by of National  Cultural Industry Development  special funds: "Internet + publication and dissemination of classic Sino-foreign poetry from" which readers can immerse themselves in the aroma and glamor of poetry.
