Revision:Lan YiqianDate:2018/10/11

The international workshop on “Heavy Flavor Production in High Energy Nuclear Collisions & Forty Years of Quark-Gluon Plasma”, is held in CCNU October 8 to 11

Peter Braun-Munzinger, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, Johanna Stachel, academician of the German National Academy of Sciences, Miklos Gyulassy, Larry McLerran, director of the Institute for Nuclear Theory University of Washington, Krzysztof Redlich, academician of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Edward Shuryak, distinguished professor of Stony Brook University. More than 50 physics experts from Europe, the United States, Japan and China gathered in Guizi Mountain for in-depth communication on the researches of the Heavy Flavor Production in High Energy Nuclear Collisions & Forty Years of Quark-Gluon Plasma in the past 40 years. Among them, Larry McLerran was awarded honorary PhD and the Liu Lian Shou Professorship at CCNU in 2011. Peter Braun-Munzinger was appointed Gui Zhi Ting Chair Professor of CCNU in 2015. Miklos Gyulassy was appointed Bian Peng Chair Visiting Professor at CCNU in 2015.

CCNU President Zhao Lingyun attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. On behalf of CCNU, Zhao welcomed every expert and introduced the situation of CCNU briefly. He said that the convening of the workshop was a big event in the field of the international high energy physics, which would promote the practical cooperation researches in the field of high energy physics at home and aboard, enhance the competitiveness in the field of scientific research cooperation and technology and further improve the international influence and academic status of CCNU as well as the domestic related units in the field. For a long time, CCNU has been firmly supporting the development of the School of Physical Science and Technology, especially in recent years, as a special school of CCNU, has developed rapidly. In the future, CCNU will continue supporting the development of the School of Physical Science and Technology.

The workshop is presided over by CCNU Professor Xu Nu and consists of 37 academic reports. The convening of the workshop will be conducive to enhancing the communication and cooperation between international academic entities, helping solve a series of difficult problems in the field and promoting the development and internationalization of the physics discipline of our university vigorously and assisting the construction of first-class discipline of CCNU.
