When the sun bestows its glorious radiance,
Chrysanthemums joyfully unfurl in a dance.
Petals sway in rhythmic motion,
Their fragrance gracefully in devotion,
Captivating every passerby,
Inviting them to stop, enjoy, and sigh.
As a cherished tradition at CCNU, the Chrysanthemum show unfurls its petals in the golden autumn every year, providing immense joy to CCNUers. Remarkably, this tradition has lasted for 45 years.
This year's chrysanthemum show features an impressive array of 17 varieties and over 6,000 flowerpots. Unsurprisingly, it has captured the avid attention of CCNUers who express their fondness by sharing pictures on various social platforms. Some even likened the flower show to "Monet’s Garden in CCNU". Enjoying the beauty of chrysanthemums has become a cherished tradition for CCNUers every November and December.
Let's have a closer look at the enchanting chrysanthemums!
Fresh and refined, the Green Chrysanthemum is vibrant, bringing infinite hope.
Symbolizing perseverance and courage, the Red Lotus exudes enthusiasm and tranquility with its vibrant red hue.
Another romantic addition is the Crane Flower, predominantly white with a yellow center, its numerous petals clustered beautifully.
The Condesa de Sastago, a precious flower with a striking appearance of red on the front and yellow on the back, dazzling with its brightness.
Distinguished by their grace and charm, these flowers have red petals and yellow tips.
The Pink Lotus Chrysanthemum lives up to its name, adorned with white petals tinged with a soft powder hue, interspersed with pale yellow stamens.
The Yellow Starry Flowers, shaped like spherical orbs, resembles stars sprinkled amidst the grass, symbolizing pure friendship and playing supporting roles in the floral ensemble.
Named Lipstick, these flowers exhibit a light red hue in their initial stages, gradually transforming into a deep red as the weather chills. Their splendid red tones contribute to creating a joyful and auspicious atmosphere for all who behold them.
As the poem of Yuan Zhen (a famous Chinese poet in the Tang Dynasty) goes,
"Around the cottage they grow-
clusters of autumn flowers.
Along the hedges, I stroll-
till the sun slants low.
Not that the chrysanthemum is particularly favored,
but that of all flowers it's the last to fade and none comes after."
Let’s appreciate the iridescent garden of chrysanthemums in full bloom and cherish the fleeting beauty in CCNU!
