March 5th marks the 61st "Lei Feng Memorial Day." In honor of Lei Feng and to encourage more students to participate in volunteering initiatives, a series of volunteer service-related activities took place on Guizi Mountain on March 3rd.
1. The Life Story of Lei Feng
Lei Feng, born in 1940, epitomized wholehearted service to the people and dedication to communism. He exemplified diligence in his studies, readiness to help others, and actively practiced the ethos of "devoting limited life to unlimited service for the people." Tragically, he lost his life in an accident while on duty in 1962.
2. The Public Welfare Market of Volunteer Service
Located on Guizhong Road, the activities at the public welfare market were vibrant, with volunteers sharing tales of volunteer service and upholding the spirit of Lei Feng. At the voluntary blood donation station, CCNU students collectively donated a total of 33,800 milliliters of blood.
3. Volunteering to Serve Society and Embarking on a New Journey
In the morning of March 3rd, the Student Activity Center auditorium hosted the inaugural lecture by the Benyu Volunteer Service Team. The event highlighted the evolution of youth volunteerism and showcased the diverse experiences of the Benyu Volunteer Service Team. Following that, young volunteers from the Yun Daiying Mutual Aid Association of CCNU shared their personal experiences in volunteer service.
4. How to Embody the Spirit of Lei Feng in the New Era?
Leaders from Hubei Province and CCNU encouraged us to:
(1) Utilize our professional strengths to enhance the specialization and professionalization of volunteer services.
(2) Actively participate in volunteer services and wholeheartedly transmit the spirit of volunteerism. Despite changing times, the spirit of Lei Feng remains timeless. Each of us contributes to and witness the narrative of Lei Feng in the new era.
May the spirit of Lei Feng shine even brighter on Guizi Mountain in this new era!
