In November 2024, Mr Thomas Penot and Mrs Liu Jingjiao, cultural attachés of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, visited the School of Fine Arts at CCNU. Both sides discussed exchange activities organized by the French Ministry of Culture and committed to actively advance Sino-French cooperation in cultural education, technology and arts.
During the meeting, Thomas Penot introduced the theme of the exchange activities, which focus on addressing the digital divide in modern society around the relationship between humans and technology and exploring the impact of science and technology on modern society from a multidisciplinary perspective. He expressed hopes of involving renowned French science fiction writers and artists in future visits to Wuhan and invited the School of Fine Arts to participate in these initiatives.
Dean Zheng Da highlighted the alignment between the exchange theme and the school's interdisciplinary research focus. He introduced the team's artistic projects and expressed enthusiasm for further collaboration. Both sides discussed the French Ministry of Culture's annual cultural exchange activities, planning next year's theme and cooperation strategies in detail.
The participants also reviewed the long-standing collaboration between CCNU's School of Fine Arts and the French Consulate in art exchanges, with appreciation expressed for the Consulate's solid support. The event also fostered discussions on the school's "Art and Technology" platform, with Penot noting its potential to strengthen international exchanges and deepen its ties between French and Chinese art education.
Following the meeting, Penot and Liu Jingjiao toured School's laboratories.
