Held in Tianjin from February 6 to 8, the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships saw six undergraduate students from the School of Physical Education of Central China Normal University in the competition and secure an excellent result of one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

As the highest-level indoor athletics event in Asia, the championships attracted a 72 athlete Chinese delegation. All CCNU participants advanced to the finals. Among them, Wu Hongjiao successfully defended her women’s 800m title with a time of 2 minutes and 8.56 seconds; Li Yi claimed the silver medal in the women’s triple jump; Liu Dezhu and Luo Xia took home the bronze medals in the men’s 1500m and women’s 3000m events respectively.
In recent years, CCNU has focused on the development of high-level sports teams. Athletes from the university have won numerous world and Asian championships in multiple events including track and field, badminton and swimming, achieving remarkable results in cultivating top sports talents. This has injected strong impetus into the construction of campus sports culture and the improvement of students’ physical health.
