Undergraduate team from Central China Normal University (CCNU) has won a First Award at the 19th Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition. Outperforming more than 400 national finalist teams, the group developed an early‑warning system for campus violence built upon anonymous vision and end‑edge‑cloud collaborative multimodal perception.

Supervised by Professor Peng Xi from the School of Computer Science, the undergraduate‑only team tackled key challenges in intelligent campus violence prevention, including covert behaviour patterns, real‑time response requirements and surveillance‑related privacy risks. Through multiple rounds of algorithm iteration, the team delivered a practical, regulation‑compliant auxiliary early‑warning solution that provides effective technical support for campus safety governance and holds tangible prospects for real‑world deployment.
The School of Computer Science integrates competition‑driven learning, innovation and capacity‑building into its talent‑training framework. It leverages student clubs, subject‑based contests and tiered faculty mentorship to encourage students to address real‑world social demands, enhance practical engineering skills and nurture innovative thinking. Launched in 2008, the high‑profile Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition adopts a three‑tier selection process covering university, provincial and national rounds. The 2026 edition drew participants from 412 higher‑education institutions. First‑class awards at the national final are strictly capped at 5 % of shortlisted entries.
