From July 26 to 28, the Central China Regional Final of the 10th National University Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held at Central China Normal University (CCNU). Over three days, more than 430 teams with nearly 1,500 teachers and students from Hubei, Henan, Hunan, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces took part in the event. Featuring competition evaluation, industry seminars and talent‑matching sessions, the contest demonstrated the strong scientific‑innovation capacity and talent‑training outcomes of universities in Central China in the integrated circuit sector. After fierce competition, 163 teams won first‑class prizes and 229 teams won second‑class prizes. Seventy‑three teams from Hubei universities qualified for the national final to represent the Central China region.

Leaders from the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Hubei provincial government departments, Wuhan Municipal Talent Work Bureau, Jiangcheng Laboratory, CCNU and industry guests presented awards to winning teams and delivered remarks at the award ceremony.

Se Yunfeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, noted that the Central China region boasts outstanding industry‑university‑research resources. The competition serves as a bridge to connect talent, stimulate youth innovation and build a government‑enterprise‑university collaborative platform, supplying talent support for building a manufacturing‑power and cyber‑power nation.
Wu Dan, Vice President of CCNU, pointed out that integrated circuits constitute the core foundation for the digital economy, artificial intelligence and high‑end manufacturing. She commended students’ solid professional competence and innovative vitality, encouraging young participants to engage in scientific innovation in central China and contribute to building a strong country in science, technology and education.
Wang Songlie, Party Secretary of Jiangcheng Laboratory, stated that the laboratory focuses on advanced integrated‑circuit packaging. It will further strengthen university‑enterprise cooperation, align research achievements with industrial demands and open high‑quality research resources to foster young scientific and technological talents.
Hosted by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the regional final was co‑organized by Jiangcheng Laboratory, CCNU and Hubei Star Technology Co., Ltd. It is the only top‑tier integrated‑circuit competition included in the national catalogue of university student competitions. This year’s national competition draws over 8,800 teams from 575 universities, covering all C9 universities and national demonstration microelectronics institutes. As one of the seven key regional divisions nationwide, the Central China Regional Final undertakes major tasks including talent selection, achievement transformation and industry‑education integration for five central‑China provinces.
Contest entries covered cutting‑edge areas such as chip design, advanced packaging, semiconductor processing, chip application development and embodied intelligence, targeting key technical challenges in the post‑Moore era. Judges assessed participants through a combination of defence presentations and hands‑on practical tests, evaluating their theoretical knowledge, engineering capabilities and innovation potential against real‑world industrial challenges.
