To inherit the spiritual strength of traditional culture and promote exchanges and integration among different ethnic groups, the inaugural "Runwen Lecture: Face-to-Face with a Calligraphy Master" took place in the afternoon of March 15th at the University Student Activity Center. In this session, Ma Shihao, a professor from the College of Physical Science and Technology at Central China Normal University, was invited as the calligraphy instructor.
At the outset, Mr. Ma initiated the session by posing a thought-provoking question: "If we were to depict the Chinese dream without the use of written characters, what alternatives could we employ?" This inquiry served as a segue into his comprehensive exploration of calligraphy's significance in different perspectives.
Mr. Ma commenced his discussion with the fundamental aspect of calligraphy—the technique of holding the writing instrument. He elucidated how the positioning of pen varies across different calligraphy styles, providing a basic understanding of the art form.
Following that, Mr. Ma encouraged the students to engage in a practical exercise by writing down their own names. During this activity, he provided guidance on proper pen-holding techniques, intervening to correct any errors and assist with brushwork.
Towards the conclusion of the session, all participants collectively inscribed the phrase "All Ethnic Groups As One Family". Each individual proudly displayed their completed work, fostering a palpable sense of national pride and patriotic sentiment among both teachers and students alike.
