On November 29, the 12th CCNU International Model United Nations Conference opened at the CCNU Science Hall.
The conference hosted 156 delegates from 14 countries, 12 universities and 3 high schools. It featured two Chinese committees and one English committee addressing topics such as Security Council reform, the Paris Peace Conference and the refugee issue crisis. Spanning from November 29 to December 1, the conference concluded nine sessions.
Participants watched a promotional video where representatives shared their sincere wishes for the success of the event.
Hu Zongshan, Dean of the School of Politics and International Studies, delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the importance of the Model United Nations Conference in talent cultivation and enhancing students' international competence. He encouraged students to actively participate in activities of this kind, thus to adopt a global perspective and grow into a new generation committed tonational rejuvenation.
Wang Zichen, Secretary-General of the conference and a undergraduate majoring in international politics from the class of 2022, introduced the agenda and expectations, urging participants to utilize this platform for in-depth discussions on global issues, fostering political awareness and international competence.
Student representatives Wang Xinyue and Mashal Jamalzai emphasized that the conference is both a grand political science event and a practical plat form for understanding international issues. They encouraged participants to engage with an open mind, professionalism, and a commitment to cultural exchange, communication skills and global vision.
Vice President Ren Youzhou welcomed the delegates and shared three aspirations: to cultivate patriotism, broaden international perspectives, and refine personal growth. He officially declared the conference open.
The Model United Nations Conference, a flagship event of CCNU led by the School of Politics and International Studies, aims to enhance students' enthusiasm for international affairs and their global competence through simulation. Over its 11 successful sessions, it has fostered numerous outstanding diplomatic talents.
