On December 7, Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR), led a delegation to visit CCNU. She delivered a keynote speech and interacted with teachers and students in the auditorium of the Student Activity Center.
During the event, the audience enjoyed a captivating cultural performance. Mrs. Carrie Lam delivered a speech titled "Upholding and Improving the Practice of 'One Country, Two Systems' in Hong Kong". In her address, she reviewed the historical background and implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" framework and shared her experience in promoting the rule of law in Hong Kong during her five-year tenure as Chief Executive of the HKSAR. Warm applause resonated throughout the venue multiple times during her speech.
As part of the the visit, President Peng Shuangjie held a meeting with Mrs. Carrie Lam and her delegation. Additionally, Mrs. Carrie Lam visited CCNU's History Hall and Museum to gain deeper insights of the university's development and achievements.
In recent years, CCNU has engaged in extensive exchanges and collaborations with universities in Hong Kong in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research, cultural heritage preservation and innovation. The visit by Mrs. Carrie Lam and her delegation not only fosters cultural and educational exchanges between Hong Kong and Hubei but also opens a new chapter of cooperation and development between the two regions. This visit is expected to further strengthening ties between Hong Kong and Hubei, including collaborations with CCNU, to promote mutual benefits and foster synergistic development.
