On April 13th, the Hubei-Russia Higher Education Exchange and Cooperation Conference took place at CCNU. Galina Kulikova, recipient of China's "Friendship Medal", along with her coworkers, staff from foreign affairs office of Hubei province, president Peng Shuangjie and over 40 representatives & international students attended the conference.
President Peng Shuangjie graciously welcomed the guests to visit Guizi Mountain, where they could collaborate on shaping the future of higher education between China and Russia. He highlighted CCNU's notable achivements in its exchange programs with Russia and its wealth of experience in nurturing top-tier innovative talents. Peng expressed his aspirations for bilateral collaboration in talent cultivation, joint scientific research, and hosting international conferences, fostering robust educational development between the two countries while strengthening the bonds of friendship.
Kulicova lauded CCNU for its rich history and profound legacy, emphasizing the importance of humanistic exchanges as a cornerstone of inter-country cooperation. She expressed hope that the conference would facilitate the establishment of more bridges of friendship between Chinese and Russian universities, injecting fresh vitality into higher education cooperation between the two nations. Kulikova underscored the significance of conference attendees, including representatives from college and universities and young students, as pivotal forces and future pillars of educational exchanges between the two countries. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, she expressed her wish that collaboration between universities and humanistic exchanges would pave the way for another promising future.
During the second stage of the conference, representatives of 15 Chinese and Russian universities provided updates on their insititutions and showcased the fruitful outcomes of their participation in China-Russia educational exchanges. Moreover, delegates expressed their enthusiasm for jointly advancing higher education and harbored high hopes for deepening humanistic exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The Russia-China Friendship Association (RCFA) was established in 1957, with a steadfast commitment to fostering friendship with China. Since its inception, the association has played a pivotal role in enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and trust between the people of two countries, as well as consolidating social and public foundation for friendly relations between the two nations. On October 29, 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory letters to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the RCFA's founding. Kulikova, currently serving as the first vice president of the RCFA, was honored with the Friendship Medal by President Xi in 2019, becoming the second Russian recipirent of this prestigious award after Russian President Vladimir Putin.
