On April 20th, the collaborative performance of "Pearl of the Orient" by Tiankong and the choir of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PloyU) resonated along the banks of the Xiangjiang River.
At that moment, the Yangtze River and the Xiangjiang River seemed to share the same journeys of ups and downs.
That evening, universities from Hubei and Hong Kong forged a lasting friendship through the beauty of music.
A Cultural and Artistic Exchange
The concert aimed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and to foster educational and cultural cooperation between Hubei and Hong Kong.
Professor Peng Shuangjie, President of CCNU, expressed in a congratulatory letter, "Tiankong shines like a beacon, illuminating the world with the energy, power and warmth of our extraordinary Chinese traditional art." The concert showcased high-level performances by the professional choirs of both universities, enriching educational and cultural exchanges between Hubei and Hong Kong. Through music, it united the hearts of people from both regions and promoted the preservation of Chinese culture.
Teng Jinguang, the principal of PloyU, remarked in his speech, "The concert presented by the two universities not only delighted the audience with the charm of music but also built a stronger bridge for promoting communication between universities in both regions."
Tonight’s concert featured several pieces showcasing the tapestry of Chinese culture, including songs imbued with ethnic and cultural characteristics, as well as lyrics drawn from both modern and ancient music, creating a perfect harmony. Additionally, through the exchange of musical performances between Tian Kong and the choirs of PloyU, the promotion of Chinese cultural heritage was furthered.
A Pragmatic Cooperation Trip
During their time in Hong Kong, the delegation visited PloyU and the Hong Kong Institute of Financial Management (HKIFM), engaging in in-depth discussions on talent training, scientific research, and the commercialization of research outcomes. Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in these areas.
An agreement was reached with HKIFM to enhance strategic alignment of high-end talent training, expedite the resumption of offline teaching, and expand and strengthen teaching facilities for postgraduates.
United by shared ambitions, Hubei, Hong Kong, and Macao demonstrate a deep affinity, transcending geographical barriers. This unity speaks to their shared vision and commitment.
Looking ahead, CCNU will collaborate closely with universities in Hong Kong and Macao to further strengthen practical cooperation in higher education, talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, and cultural exchanges. By aligning with the nation’s major strategies, CCNU aims to make greater contributions to national development and rejuvenation.
