On February 21-22, 2025, Mr. and Mrs. Zhang Ange, the eldest son of renowned poet and literary critic Guang Weiran (birth name Zhang Guangnian), and his son Zhang Andong visited the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Central China Normal University (CCNU), during which the family members revisited his academic years, revolutionary journey, and literary achievements through various activities.
On the afternoon of February 21st, accompanied by School leaders, the relatives visited the School of Chinese Language and Literature and Guang Weiran Library. They expressed appreciation for the School's efforts in preserving and promoting Guang Weiran's literary legacy through its collection of manuscripts and academic works.
During the following symposium, Zhang Shun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, welcomed the guests and highlighted Guang Weiran's school time at CCNU. He thanked the family for their donations of books and manuscripts and expressed hope for continued collaboration to further research and disseminate Guang Weiran's literary thoughts. Associate Professor Yan Hui also shared updates on Zhang Guangnian's literary research and their achievements.
The relatives shared personal stories of his life and thanked the School for its dedication to preserving his legacy. At the symposium, Dean Liu Yun presented donation certificates and commemorative badges to the family in recognition of their contributions.
On February 22nd, a commemorative ceremony was held at Guang Weiran Square. Teachers and students recited "Ode to the Yellow River", evoking patriotic sentiments, and attendees paid tribute by laying flowers at Guang Weiran's statue.
Mr. Guang Weiran embodies the School's tradition of using literature to convey truth and values. In recent years, the School has promoted his legacy through lectures, choirs, publications and poetry competitions. This visit not only honored Guang Weiran's memory but also reinforced the School's commitment to cultural inheritance.
