From November 21st to 23rd, the 2nd China Art Song High-Quality Aesthetic Education Exhibition Series was held in Wuhan. Integrating academic seminars, cutting-edge courses, aesthetic education practice and social services, this series of activities was guided by the Department of Education & the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province and co-hosted by our university and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

On the evening of November 21st, the Chinese Art Song Concert presented a vivid and high-quality aesthetic education through professional artistic expression. With carefully selected classic works spanning a century, the concert, via its exquisite interpretation, allowed teachers and students to deepen their understanding and recognition of fine traditional Chinese culture in an immersive aesthetic experience.

On November 22nd, the Academic Forum on Chinese Art Songs and the Award Ceremony of the First Call for Academic Papers on Chinese Art Song Research were held in Lecture Hall of the Conservatory of Music, Central China Normal University. Experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on core topics such as the creative context, aesthetic spirit, and communication paths of Chinese art songs. Coinciding with these events, the 3rd Presidium Meeting of the University Music Alliance of the Chinese Musicians Association and the Exchange Seminar on Music Departments of Universities Participating in the Ministry of Education's Normal Education Collaborative Quality Improvement Program jointly explored the innovative paths and resource co-construction mechanisms for aesthetic education in the new era, injecting new momentum into promoting discipline development and talent cultivation.

During the event, the masterclass German-Austrian Art Songs delivered by Hartmut Höll, distinguished Professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music and internationally renowned vocal coach, systematically analyzed the singing techniques and artistic connotations of European art songs. Meanwhile, Professor Liao Changyong's masterclass profoundly elaborated on the aesthetic characteristic of “integration of poetry and music” in Chinese art songs through in-depth interpretation of representative works. These two high-level masterclasses formed a dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations featuring exchange and mutual learning, effectively broadening the artistic horizons of teachers and students and consolidating their professional foundations.

Since Central China Normal University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Conservatory of Music in October 2024, the two institutions have deepened cooperation to jointly fulfill their missions. They have co-created high-quality demonstration activities for aesthetic education, achieving a series of fruitful results in academic research, aesthetic education practice, and cultural inheritance and innovation.
