Recently, at the 2025 National Showcase of Works under China’s Top Dancer Development Program, teachers and students from CCNU achieved remarkable results once again. Li Ximi, a undergraduate student in the Department of Dance Education at the School of Music, stood out among tens of thousands of applicants and advanced through multiple rounds to ultimately win the title of “2025 Top Dancer.” This achievement marks the first time a comprehensive university in Hubei Province has claimed this honor at such a highlevel national event, and also makes CCNU the only comprehensive normal university to receive the Top Dancer title this year. In addition, faculty members of the School of Music also earned distinctions: Lan Tianwen and Zhou Cancan were named “Top BGroup Instructors of the Year” (10 nationwide), while Jin Shaoshen received the title of “Top AGroup Instructor of the Year” (15 nationwide).

“Top Dancer” is a national-level brand program co-launched by the China Dancers Association and the Dance Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art, boasting the highest authority and professionalism in the field. Since its inauguration in 2018, the program has been committed to discovering, selecting, and nurturing young talents with outstanding dance potential, excellent academic performance and strong moral character. In 2024, the total number of national applicants for the program exceeded 80,000. With the mission of fulfilling cultural responsibilities and cultivating leading dance talents for contemporary China, the program continues to inject new vitality into the inheritance and development of China’s dance cause.

The Dean of the School of Music mentioned that these awards not only fully affirm the artistic attainments and innovative capabilities of the school’s teachers and students, but also stand as a fruitful achievement of the School’s long-term commitment to its educational mission and dedication to nurturing artistic talents. Adhering to moral education as its fundamental principle, the School has consistently optimized curriculum design, strengthened practical teaching, and built high-standard performance platforms. These efforts aim to guide students in consolidating professional foundations, enhancing aesthetic literacy, stimulating creative potential, and achieving all-round development of knowledge, abilities and personality.
