A delegation from Newcastle University in the UK, led by its Vice Chancellor Li Li, paid a visit to CCNU from March 19 to 20. Peng Shuangjie, President of CCNU, and Wu Dan, Vice President of CCNU, met with the delegation in Meeting Room of the New Liberal Arts Building. Leaders and directors from relevant faculties and departments attended the meeting.

President Peng Shuangjie gave a comprehensive introduction to CCNU’s school-running development, digital construction, the progress of internationalization work, as well as the overall planning of the university’s Panlongcheng Campus centering on six key development areas. He reviewed the close cooperation between the two universities in high-level mutual visits and exchanges of teachers and students since 2024, and expressed the expectation that the two sides would join hands to further promote pragmatic and in-depth strategic cooperation in talent cultivation, scientific research and innovation. Vice president Wu Dan mentioned that Newcastle University boasts a profound academic heritage and prominent disciplinary advantages, and has a strong complementarity and broad cooperation links with CCNU. She hoped that both sides would focus on improving the quality of talent cultivation and realizing disciplinary complementary advantages, and strive to build an innovation carrier for the in-depth integration of high-quality resources, a highland for international talent cultivation and an interdisciplinary scientific research cooperation platform.

Vice Chancellor Li Li expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from CCNU. She emphasized that Newcastle University attaches great importance to the strategic cooperation with CCNU. Noting that CCNU has distinctive disciplinary advantages in the digital and intelligent field, while Newcastle University is a leader in artificial intelligence and data science in the UK, she hoped that the two universities would further deepen cooperation in the digital and intelligent field, actively carry out joint scientific research and high-level talent cultivation, and jointly build the cooperation between the two universities into a model for China-UK educational exchanges. During the visit, the delegation also visited the National Engineering Research Center for Educational Big Data, the Smart Classrooms and the Panlongcheng Campus of CCNU.
