The scientific research of CCNU adheres to the “Four Orientations”, carries out organized scientific research, accelerates the construction of "high-level science and distinctive engineering", strengthens the organic combination of scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation, thus to provide strong support for the high quality development of our university. CCNU possesses 67 scientific research institutions, laboratories and centers, including 1 National Engineering Research Center, 1 National Engineering Technology Research Center, 2 National International Joint Research Centers, 1 National Science Popularization Education Base, 1 Provincial and Ministerial Cooperative Innovation Center, and 20 other provincial and ministerial key laboratories and research bases.

In the past five years, our university has undertaken more than 600 national, provincial and ministerial scientific projects. Our funding rate of the National Natural Science Foundation of China ranks the top among domestic universities. CCNU has won 16 provincial and ministerial awards as the first completion unit. In 2018, CCNU was granted the National Special Award of Higher Education Teaching Achievement for "A Practice of Reconstruction and Exploration of College Talent Training System with Deep Integration of Information Technology".

CCNU gives full play to its academic advantages, combining with its educational characteristics, taking original research as the foundation, to vigorously strengthens the development its applied research. It actively carries out school-institute cooperation and school-enterprise cooperation, to promote the transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, serving the local economic and social development.
