Central China Normal University (CCNU) officially launched the Hubei Outstanding Engineers College on June 12, marking a landmark step in the university’s engineering education reform. The inauguration ceremony was attended by CCNU senior leaders, government officials from Hubei’s education and industry authorities, representatives from 14 cooperative enterprises, 17 peer universities, as well as faculty and student delegates.

The college was founded to support national strategic needs and fuel the development of Hubei’s 51020 modern industrial clusters. Leveraging its long-standing strengths in teacher education and digital educational innovation, CCNU has developed a unique engineering education model characterized by solid educational foundations and intelligent technological empowerment. As a national pilot institution for advanced engineering degree training reform, the university has built a mature university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation system.
Moving forward, the college will focus on key fields including information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, materials and chemical engineering, and biomedicine, striving to build a high-standard platform for talent training, industry-education integration and technological innovation. During the ceremony, an official unveiling and awarding session formally established the college’s comprehensive university-enterprise cooperation framework. Industry mentors and student representatives shared insights on practical engineering training and collaborative education.
Prior to the launch, the college held its first council meeting, adopting four core regulatory documents. CCNU President Peng Shuangjie was elected chair of the inaugural council. The council clarified its development priorities of standardizing institutional management, highlighting disciplinary features and strengthening high-end talent cultivation, aiming to elevate traditional university-enterprise cooperation into a stable community of shared development.
The establishment of the college advances CCNU’s integration of industry, education and scientific research. In the next stage, the college will further optimize project-based training and work-study alternating programs, develop a distinctive talent cultivation system integrating educational advantages and engineering characteristics, and continuously deliver high-caliber engineering talents for Hubei’s high-quality development and the nation’s sci-tech self-reliance strategy.
