The 31st World University Games was held in Chengdu from July 28 to August 8. Five students fromCCNU were selected to represent the Chinese sports delegation and competed in two majorprograms, namely badminton and athletics. All ofthe students achieved top-eight rankings, contributing two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal to the Chinese sports delegation.This is the first timefor CCNU tosent student athletes to represent the country to participate in the World University Games.Both the number of participants and the results have made a major breakthrough.
Li Wenmei, a student majoring in physical education at the School of Physical Education and Sports, achieved the silver medal in the mixed team badminton event and secured the gold medal in the women's doubles badminton event.
Chen Jiapeng, majoring in sports training, clinched the gold medal in the men's 4x100m relay event, marking both our school's as well as China’s first-ever gold medalof 4x100m relay even in world university games.
Luo Xia, majoring in physical education, won the sixth place in the 3000-meter obstacle project of the track and field,as well as abronze medal of the half marathon group project, and the sixth place in the women's half marathon.
During the competition, the International Conference on the International Union was held from July 29th to August 1st. As the highest -level academic conference of the International University Sports Federation, the conference was of great significance to promote international academic exchanges and help college students' sports development. 4 teachers and students from the School of Physical Education and Sports were invited to participate in it.Professor Wang Jian was invited to be a member of the expert group of the Academic Conference. Professor Lu Changfen, doctoral candidate He Zhonghao and master student Zheng Xiaoqian also participate in the academic exchanges sections.
