The humanity and social science research of Central China Normal University (CCNU) takes an active part in fulfilling the social service function of the university. Meanwhile, focusing on the major demands for national and regional development in economy and society, it also provides intellectual support for the scientific decision-making of the Party (CPC) and the central and local governments. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, teachers specialized in humanities and social sciences have put down 2, 500 + consultative reports, 600 of which have won higher-level approval and implementation by operation divisions of government at all levels. In particular, the university waged an “academic war” against the epidemic in 2020. Soon nearly 100 academic essays were written on epidemic prevention and control, and 53 articles were published in the important newspapers and periodicals such asChinese Social Sciences Today, Guangming Daily and People's Daily. Among the 308 policy-making-oriented consultative reports, more than 70 have been approved, or even adopted, by the central government, the provincial authorities, and the major media. The humanity and social science research at CCNU involves 4 entrusted projects at the provincial and ministerial level and 54 independent projects. Seven scholars were invited to attend expert consultation symposiums organized by higher-level authorities, e.g. the Central Committee Steering Group. The online social services such as “Exercising at Home” sponsored by the School of Physical Education and “Psychological Aids” by the School of Psychology have attracted more than 2 million hits on the Internet and provided 15, 000 people with direct online services.The “academic war” against the epidemic launched by CCNU has attracted widespread attention. CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, and many other popular media have organized dozens of interviews and published many influential reports on it. In addition, the university authorities have alsoactively promotedthe construction of the demonstration sites for the “Face-to-Face at the Theoretical Hot Spot” program. What’s more,experts on social service from CCNU have been dispatched to towns, communities, enterprises, departments and public institutions, for the propagation of the spirit of the 19^thNational Congress of CPC and the expounding of Present Xi Jinping’s thought on state governance and administration.
