The faculties are responsible for the training of international postgraduate students. The same training system and plan as Chinese students is adopted, covering the length of study, curriculum and credits, professional practice, research, dissertation, early graduation, etc. Combined with the particularities of international students in terms of language and cultural adaptation, appropriate adjustments have been made to the teaching and credits of general education courses, making them more suitable for students studying in China. The postgraduate training process is divided into three stages: course study, professional practice, and thesis writing and defense. A tutor responsibility system is implemented during these stages. The admission, study, practice, thesis writing and defense are all completed under the guidance of the tutor.
General course education is taken charge by the College of International Cultural Exchange. It offers general courses such as Chinese courses, China Panorama, and Chinese Culture at all levels for postgraduates except for students who pursue a Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
Based on the advantageous disciplines and majors of CCNU, some English-taught and bilingual-taught specialties, high-quality courses, and teaching materials have been established for international students. Meanwhile, CCNU encourages a mutual recognition credit system and flexible academic system to meet the diverse and personalized learning needs of international students, and improve the teaching quality of international students in a comprehensive way.
